font-size: small;\">Just started a new project today for a customer where I will be building a 2 node DAG on Server 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">Got the Exchange server bits installed and then tried creating the DAG which failed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">After a bit of analysis it transpires that the customer built the base OS with Windows 2012 Standard and not DataCenter (Server 2012 doesn\u2019t include an Enterprise Edition any more)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">Luckily we can convert between editions of Windows Server on the fly via DISM (<a title=\"http:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-us\/library\/dd744256%28v=ws.10%29.aspx\" href=\"http:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-us\/library\/dd744256%28v=ws.10%29.aspx\">Deployment Image Service &amp; Management<\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">TechNet documentation on converting between server 2012 versions can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/technet.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/library\/jj574204.aspx\">here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">To determine the current edition of Windows Server installed run the following<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\"><strong>DISM \/online \/Get-CurrentEdition<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/everythingsysadmin.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/image11.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/everythingsysadmin.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/image_thumb11.png?w=244&amp;h=103\" alt=\"image\" width=\"244\" height=\"103\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">To determine which versions the server can be upgraded to run<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\"><strong>DISM \/online \/Get-TargetEditions<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/everythingsysadmin.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/image12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/everythingsysadmin.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/image_thumb12.png?w=244&amp;h=109\" alt=\"image\" width=\"244\" height=\"109\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">As can be seen from the above screenshot this version of Windows Server can be upgraded to <strong>Target Edition : ServerDatacenter<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">To complete the conversion between editions we use the DISM command with the following format<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\"><strong>DISM \/online \/Set-Edition:&lt;Version&gt; \/ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX \/AcceptEULA<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">In the above example the target edition is <strong>ServerDatacenter<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/everythingsysadmin.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/image13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/everythingsysadmin.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/image_thumb13.png?w=244&amp;h=123\" alt=\"image\" width=\"244\" height=\"123\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;
