Note: This article applies to uninstalling\/reinstalling Easy CD
\nCreator 4 only, if you are using Easy CD Creator 5, please refer to
\narticles numbered 3321, 3470, or 3478 if you can find where the
\nKnowledgeBase has gone to.<\/p>\n
Note: if you are running Windows NT or 2000, login as ADMINISTRATOR,
\nnot just a user with administrative rights. <\/p>\n
1. Click Start button and select “Setting” then “Control Panel” menu
\noptions. <\/p>\n
2. Select the “Add\/Remove” programs icon. <\/p>\n
3. Select and remove all Easy CD Creator programs and remove all
\nshared files when prompted. <\/p>\n
Next Clean Easy CD Creator completely from your system: <\/p>\n
1. Go to “Start” and then to “My Computer” and select it.
\n 2. Go into your C:\\ drive (C:\\ is default install drive, compensate
\naccordingly if you installed in another location)
\n 3. Go into the “Program Files” Folder
\n 4. Look for a “Adaptec” folder and if found delete it
\n 5. Look for a “Direct CD” folder and if found delete it
\n 6. Go into the “Common Files” Folder
\n 7. Look for an “Adaptec” and\/or “Adaptec Shared” folder and if found
\ndelete them.
\n 8. Go into the “InstallShield” Folder (C:\\Program Files\\Common
\nFile\\InstallShield and rename the “Engine” and “IScript” folders to
\n“Engine.ROX” and “Iscript.ROX”
\n 9. Go to “Start” then “Search”, look in C:\\ (or the drive where your
\noperating system is located) and search for:
\n Cdr4vsd.sys or .vxd
\n Cdr4dll.dll or .vsd
\n Cdrpwd.vxd
\n Cdralvsd.vxd
\n Cdral.dll
\n Cdrtc.dll
\n Enginst.exe
\n Uneng.exe
\n 10. Rename any of those files you can find, changing their extensions
\nto .ROX
\n (Right click on the file name and choose “rename”)<\/p>\n
WARNING: THE NEXT 6 STEPS INVOLVES EDITING YOUR SYSTEM REGISTRY. ROXIO
\nSTRONGLY RECOMMENDS YOU EXPORT YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY
\nEDITING. EDITING YOUR REGISTRY INCORRECTLY CAN CAUSE IRREPARABLE SYSTEM
\nDAMAGE. THEY RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE EDITING YOUR
\nREGISTRY THAT YOU SKIP THESE STEPS. (Despite that, these steps are
\nnecessary to cleanly uninstall version 4 from your system. I suspect the
\nabove paragraph is only there to satisfy the lawyers)<\/p>\n
1. Click Start button and select “Run” menu option.
\n 2. Type “regedit” and click OK button.
\n 3. Select Hkey Current User\/software and remove the following key:
\nAdaptec
\n 4. Select Hkey Local Machine\/software and remove the following key:
\nAdaptec
\n 5. Exit the registry editor.
\n 6. Perform system restart.<\/p>\n
