I’ve had the same problem connecting to default admin share [c$] from
\none WinXP Pro box to a second WinXP Pro box – both machines in
\nworkgroup mode and not in a domain. This has been going on for quite
\nsome time and not much info about it on the newsgroups.<\/p>\n
Anyway, I fixed my problem like this:<\/p>\n
Under Administrative Tools:
\nLOCAL SECURITY SETTINGS
\n LOCAL POLICIES
\n SECURITY OPTIONS
\n Network Access: Sharing and security model for local
\naccounts.<\/p>\n
Value was “Guest Only … ” That seemed screwy to me, so I changed the
\nvalue to “Classic – local users authenticate as themselves”<\/p>\n
BINGO !!!<\/p>\n
Now I can map drives to default admin shares like a CHAMPION!<\/p>\n
