I have 2 HP DL servers where I\u2019ve lost its password. This is really troublesome when supporting the serve remotely. I\u2019ve asked a few colleagues of mine, they replied to perform reinstallation for the iLO2. OHH MAN\u2026 that\u2019s is along process\u2026..<\/p>\n

Last week, I found something that finally solves my problem, to change the password or add a user into iLO2, using Remote Insight Board Command Language.<\/p>\n

here\u2019s the solution:<\/p>\n

log in your server using administrator account (I\u2019m using a Domain Admin).<\/p>\n

My server already got installed the following:<\/p>\n

– install SNMP, prerequisite for HP Insight Management Agents<\/p>\n

–\u00a0 install HP Insight Management Agents.<\/p>\n

– download and extract HP Lights-Out Online configuration Utility to C:\\hp\\ilo<\/p>\n

– downloaded HP Lights-Out XML Scripting Sample for Windows.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

the xml script we are going to use (can be found in the downloaded XML Scripting Sample) is \u201cAdministrator_reset_pw.xml\u201d<\/p>\n

open it using notepad, and modify <mod_USER USER_LOGIN=\u201dAdministrator\u201d> where \u201cAdministrator\u201d is your account\u2019s username,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <password value=\u201dnewpass\u201d\/> where \u201cnewpass\u201d is your desired password.<\/p>\n

Next, using cmd, browse to C:\\hp\\ilo, run command as below:<\/p>\n

HPONCFG.exe \/f Administrator_reset_pw.xml \/l log.txt > output.txt<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
