Edit this policy with the following settings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>[Computer Configuration\\Admin Templates\\System\\Group Policy]\n<p>Enable the following setting:<\/p>\n<div><strong>User Group Policy loopback processing mode<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>[Computer Configuration\\Windows Settings\\Security Settings\\Local Policies\\Security Options]\n<p>Enable the following settings:<\/p>\n<div><strong>Do not display last user name in logon screen<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged-on user only<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Restrict floppy access to locally logged-on user only<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>[Computer Configuration\\Administrative Templates\\Windows Components\\Windows Installer]\n<p>Enable the following setting, and set it to <strong>Always<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<div><strong>Disable Windows Installer<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong> The default setting for <strong>Disable Windows Installer<\/strong> prevents any non-managed applications from being installed by a non-administrator. Setting <strong>Disable Windows Installer<\/strong> to <strong>Always<\/strong> may prevent some of the newer updates from Windows Update from being applied. Therefore, we recommend that you only set <strong>Disable Windows Installer<\/strong> to <strong>Always<\/strong> if there is a specific need or an identified threat that you must address.<\/li>\n<li>[User Configuration\\Windows Settings\\Folder Redirection]\n<p>Enable the following settings:<\/p>\n<div><strong>Application Data<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Desktop<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>My Documents<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Start Menu<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>[User Configuration\\Administrative Templates\\Windows Components\\Windows Explorer]\n<p>Enable the following settings:<\/p>\n<div><strong>Remove Map Network Drive and Disconnect Network Drive<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Remove Search button from Windows Explorer<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Disable Windows Explorer&#8217;s default context menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Hides the Manage item on the Windows Explorer context menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Hide these specified drives in My Computer<\/strong> (Enable this setting for A through D.)<br \/>\n<strong>Prevent access to drives from My Computer<\/strong> (Enable this setting for A through D.)<br \/>\n<strong>Hide Hardware Tab<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>[User Configuration\\Administrative Templates\\Windows Components\\Task Scheduler]\n<p>Enable the following settings:<\/p>\n<div><strong>Prevent Task Run or End<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Disable New Task Creation<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>[User Configuration\\Administrative Templates\\Start Menu &amp; Taskbar]\n<p>Enable the following settings:<br \/>\n<strong>Disable and remove links to Windows Update<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Remove common program groups from Start Menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Disable programs on Settings Menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Remove Network &amp; Dial-up Connections from Start Menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Remove Search menu from Start Menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Remove Help menu from Start Menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Remove Run menu from Start Menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Add Logoff to Start Menu<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Disable changes to Taskbar and Start Menu Settings<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Disable and remove the Shut Down command<\/strong> or <strong>Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down command<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note <\/strong>In Windows 2000, this setting is named <strong>Disable and remove the Shut Down command<\/strong>.
