When you ran the Last Known Good, did you actually press the spacebar, then
\npress L, then Enter. If you haven’t done so, try it.
\nAfter you run the LKG, and it still reboots, install a parallel of NT, that
\nis, install a new version of NT in a different folder than the default
\n|WINNT, call it whatever name, I usually call it \\JUNK, to make it stand
\nout.
\nWhen the \\JUNK is finished, boot into it (by default, NT will add 2 more
\nlines to your boot loader, and the \\JUNK install will be your 1st line)
\nBoot into the parallel, go into NT Explorer, click on View, Options, and
\nselect to Show all Files and uncheck the 1st 2 boxes (the reason for doing
\nthis, because NT by default, will hide all known types of files)
\nLoad the system hive from the parallel, that is, run regedt32
\n– Select HK Local Machine (make sure it’s highlighted)
\n– Click on Registry, Load Hive
\n– Select C:\\Winnt\\System32\\Config
\n– Choose the system file with no extension with the MS flag
\n– When it prompts you for a key name, call it ZZZ then OK
\n– You’re now back into Registry Editor, and you should see one key called
\n“ZZZ” at the bottom.
\n– Double click on ZZZ, look for the Select key and single click it.
\n– Look on the right panel, and look at the Current key, it should say
\nsomething like REG_DWORD: 0x#
\n– Whatever the # is, click on the left panel where it says Controlset00x
\n– Select Control, CrashControl
\n– Look on the right panel, on the 1st line where it says AutoReboot, double
\nclick on that line, it will open up a new Window with the “1” highlighted,
\nchange that value to 0 (1 is autoreboot, 0 will deactivate the autoreboot
\nfeature) then click OK.
\n– Collapse ZZZ (that is to say make sure nothing is shown underneath this
\nkey)
\n– Highlight ZZZ, then click on Registry, Unload Hive, then you will get a
\nscary message, click OK. Then close Registry Editor.
\n– Reboot, and this time select your original (it should be your 3rd line)
\n– This time, it should stop at the blue screen with the stop code [The
\nparallel install and all the steps just make it stop at the blue screen].(It
\nwill have something like Stop 0x0000001e or something like that). Make sure
\nyou write down everything in the parenthesis.<\/p>\n

I can’t really say what caused your OS to crash yet, but these steps will
\nsave you a lot of time, unless you decide to reinstall NT and all your
\napplications. (If you don’t have a lot of meaningful data, this could be the
\nbest choice)
\nI realize I didn’t help you fix the problem, but at least I think I help you
\nstop the continual booting issue. Find out what they are.
