If necessary, see <em>Note C<\/em> below for instructions on using DISKPART to set the partition active.<\/li>\n<li>Insert the Repair Disc into the CD\/DVD drive and reboot the computer. <strong>Note:<\/strong> If the computer is not configured to boot the CD\/DVD drive before the hard drive, you may need to change the boot order in the BIOS.<\/li>\n<li>When the message <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Press any key to boot from CD or DVD&#8230;<\/span> appears, press a key to allow the Repair Disc to boot.<\/li>\n<li>Select the desired language and keyboard layout you want to use and then click the <strong>Next<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>If using a Windows installation DVD, click the <strong>Repair your computer<\/strong> link in the bottom-left corner of the window.<\/li>\n<li><strong>System Recovery Options<\/strong> will scan for Windows installations. It should report the following:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">Windows found problems with your computer&#8217;s startup options.<br \/>\nDo you want to apply repairs and restart your computer?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Click the <strong>Repair and restart<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>The computer will reboot. Repeat Steps 3 through 5 to return to the <strong>System Recovery Options<\/strong> screen.<\/li>\n<li>After <strong>System Recovery Options<\/strong> completes its scan this time, the Windows installation requiring the repair should be displayed in the list of operating systems. Normally, it is selected. If it&#8217;s not, click it to select it. <strong>Note: <\/strong>If using a Windows 7 DVD or System Repair Disc, also make sure the <strong>Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows&#8230;<\/strong> option is selected.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Next<\/strong> button. The <strong>Choose a recovery tool<\/strong> window should be displayed.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Startup Repair<\/strong> link. The system will be scanned and repairs will be attempted (it should only take a few seconds).<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Finish<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>This time, do not press a key to allow the Repair Disc to boot. Instead, allow Windows to try and boot.
