Please <a href=\"http:\/\/helpdesk.partners.org\/computerhd\/issues\/xnewissue.asp\">open a Help Desk ticket<\/a> for decryption.<\/p>\n<p><b>BitLocker<\/b> is a full disk encryption software that comes standard with PCs running <b>Windows 8 Pro<\/b> or higher. Any PC purchased after June 2, 2012 with a legal license of Windows 7 Home or higher qualifies for a $15 <a href=\"http:\/\/windowsupgradeoffer.com\/en-US\" target=\"_blank\">upgrade<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This document provides instructions for encrypting the hard drive without Trusted Platform Module (TPM &#8211; integrated security chip) present or enabled, and bypasses the USB flash drive encryption key requirement.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the Metro UI or the search box, type <b>GPEDIT.MSC<\/b> and press enter<\/li>\n<li>Open Computer Configuration =&gt; Administrative Templates =&gt; Windows Components =&gt; BitLocker Drive Encryption =&gt; Operating System Drives. From the right pane double-click &#8220;Require additional authentication at startup&#8221;<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-1.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select <b>Enabled<\/b> radio button and <b>check the box<\/b> for &#8220;Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM&#8230;&#8221;. Click OK and close the policy editor.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-2.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Right-click your C drive in the Computer folder, click <b>Turn on BitLocker<\/b><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-3.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select <b>Enter a password<\/b><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-4.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Enter, then reenter your password (at least eight characters or more is recommended). Click Next<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-5.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select <b>Save to a file<\/b>, then insert a USB flash drive to save the Recovery Key. The USB flash drive is NOT required to boot the machine. The Recovery Key is useful in case you forget your encryption password. Click Next.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-6.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select &#8220;Encrypt entire drive&#8230;&#8221;, click Next.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-8.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click Continue.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-9.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>A pop-up on the lower-right a prompt to restart the computer. Restart your PC.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/rics.partners.org\/images\/bitlocker\/bitlocker-10.png\" width=\"500\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Enter the encryption password created in step six.
