Getting tired of IE timing out while ICS is dialing? You can try
\nfiddling with some TCP registry keys if you like. I don’t recommend
\nthis, because stretching out this timeout causes all bad connection
\nrequests to take a longer time to abort. I think it is better simply
\nto hit the refresh button as soon as the dial-up is completed.<\/p>\n
In Win98 the registry key that controls the connection time-out is:<\/p>\n
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\VxD\\MSTCP\\
\nMaxConnectRetries<\/p>\n
The default is 3. This key specifies the number of times a connection
\nattempt (SYN) will be retransmitted before giving up. The initial
\nretransmission timeout is 3 seconds, and it is doubled each time up
\nto a maximum of 2 minutes. With the default of 3 connection retries,
\nthe connection timeout is 3+6+12=21 seconds. If you change this key
\nto “4” then the timeout will be (do the math) 28 seconds. You can’t
