Although most work with a combination of the Windows key (shortened below to <strong>WinKey<\/strong>) and one other key, the Ctrl and Alt keys are there to help you navigate quickly, too.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>WinKey<\/strong> \u2014 The most important keyboard shortcut; <strong>toggles between Metro and Desktop<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + B<\/strong> \u2014 Go to the Desktop from the Metro Start Screen<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + C<\/strong> \u2014 Bring up the Charms menu (where you can search, share, and change settings)<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + D<\/strong> \u2014 Go to the Desktop from the Start screen<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + E<\/strong> \u2014 Launch File Explorer with Computer view displayed<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + F<\/strong> \u2014 Bring up the Files search box<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + H<\/strong> \u2014 Open the Start Share panel<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + I<\/strong> \u2014 Open the Settings panel (to adjust settings for the current app, change volume, access wireless networks, shut down, or adjust the brightness)<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + J<\/strong> \u2014 Switch focus between snapped Start applications (see further Window Snap navigation below)<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + K<\/strong> \u2014 Open the Devices panel (for connecting to a projector or some other device)<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + L<\/strong> \u2014 Lock PC and return to Lock screen<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + M<\/strong> \u2014 Minimize all Windows on the desktop<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + O<\/strong> \u2014 Lock device orientation on tablets<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + P<\/strong> \u2014 Choose between available displays if you have the proper graphics card and an additional monitor attached.<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + Q<\/strong> \u2014 Bring up the Start App Search screen<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + R<\/strong> \u2014 Switch to Desktop and display the Run box<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + U<\/strong> \u2014 Switch to Desktop and launch the Ease of Access Center<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + V<\/strong> \u2014 Cycle through app notifications (these appear in the upper-right corner when appropriate to a particular app)<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + W<\/strong> \u2014 Bring up the Start Settings search box<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + X<\/strong> \u2014 Launch Start shortcuts menu<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + Y<\/strong> \u2014 Temporarily peek at the desktop<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + Z<\/strong> \u2014 Open the App bar for the current Start application<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + Tab<\/strong> \u2014 Open the Metro application switcher menu (toggles between applications)<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + Page Up\/Down<\/strong> \u2014 Moves tiles to the left or right<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + , (comma)<\/strong> \u2014 Aero Peek at the desktop<\/li>\n<li><strong>WinKey + .
